We are currently developing a wide variety of high-excitement wilderness programs called Treks. Each Trek will take you on the adventure of a lifetime!

This weekend Trek includes ground school, rock climbing, rappelling, and hiking. Your group will stay in Tent City, and all meals will be provided from Friday dinner to Sunday breakfast—although you will have to cook some of it yourself out on the trail! We also provide all equipment for climbing and rappelling. You will need to bring a daypack, a water bottle, and sturdy footwear that protects ankles from twisting.

This Trek will consist of Land Navigation, Geocaching, Climbing/Rappelling, Mountain Biking and some other surprises. On Saturday of your weekend of this trek you will spend the day in preparation for the competition among your crew on Sunday. The winner of each Adventure Racing weekend will be invited back at the end of the year to compete against the other weekend winners to see who will be crowned the Adventure Race Champion in the Middle Tennessee Council.

This weekend Trek allows you to explore the beauty of Latimer on a 10.2-mile mountain bike trail using a Trek 4500 bike. The trail includes all the natural beauty of the property, including an old coal mine, a waterfall, Scott’s Pinnacle, and the Latimer Overlook. This Trek will consist of a trip to the Ocoee River on Saturday. Here you will be under the direct supervision of the experienced staff of Outland Expeditions. This whitewater trip exposes you to the breathtaking scenery of the Cherokee National Forest as well as the foaming waters of the Class III and IV rapids of the Ocoee River. Not only is this trek for the beginning rafter it will also provide a challenge for the advanced paddler. Transportation to and from the river is provided. Once you return to Latimer you may choose from Climbing/Rappelling, Mountain Biking or recreational shotgun shooting for Sunday morning.

Latimer and surrounding areas will provide a great opportunity for weekend backpacking treks of 10 to 20 miles depending on how easy or strenuous a route you would like to travel. You will spend Friday night in base camp and then head out early on Saturday and return on Sunday. You will have the option of a Trek Guide or just following the maps provided. Once you have signed up for a backpacking trek, you will be contacted to discuss what type of trip you would like so that our staff will be ready to provide you with a great weekend adventure. In preparing for your trek, keep in mind that the terrain around Latimer goes from easy to very challenging.

This trek will provide the opportunity for participants to earn a NRA Certificate in either Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, and or Basic Shotgun. Each trek will conducted by a Certified NRA Instructor at the Gary Curtin Shooting Sports Complex at Latimer. Each crew must choose which discipline they will participate in during their weekend at Latimer. The goal of this trek is to teach basic knowledge, skills and attitudes for the safe and proper use of a pistol, rifle or shotgun. Latimer will provide both 22 cal. and 9 mm pistols, 22 and 308 cal. Rifles and 12 ga. Shotguns. NO PERSONAL FIREARMS PERMITTED! This trek will include classroom and practical exercises. NOTE: The pistol trek is for Venturers only!

This Trek will consist scenarios of survival that will be conducted throughout the trek. Each participant will be challenged to survive using skills taught by our staff. Learn about shelter, water and food the basic needs for survival. So you think you are tough, lets just see. By the way we won't let you starve!
