Facilities

Latimer Reservation offers rustic country charm with a private atmosphere nestled in 1550 acres on the beautiful Cumberland Plateau. We strive to provide our guests with the best personal experience available. Our mission is to serve Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups, school groups, church groups, and corporate/business/professional groups with programs and facilities.  

 

  • Tent City with a capacity of 92 is for the real outdoor types.  Each of our tents have metal frames with no obstructions, housed on a concrete platform and two military style cots.  A shower house facility for youth and adults also is located in Tent City.

  • Participant Cabins are climate controlled and are open year-round.  Designed with bunk rooms (twin size bunks) as well as private rooms for leaders (twin size beds).  Each has toilets, showers and sinks within.

  • LaRoche Dining Hall with a capacity of 200, is climate controlled and open year-round.  A standard well-balanced menu is available upon request.  Meal Times are Breakfast-8:00 AM, Lunch-noon, and Dinner-5:30. 

  • Trinity Chapel is a place for individual meditation and reflection; worship by all faiths, weddings and other celebratory occasions.  Formal seating for 80 under roof with space for additional chair and lawn seating opportunities.

  • Tolbert Conference Center can host conferences from 10 to 50 comfortably in the main meeting room. There are also four breakout rooms for 8 to 10 each.  The conference center has WIFI, TV/DVD, Wireless Audio, Podium, and Flipcharts available.  Beverages are included in the rental of the conference center.

 

What Services are Available?

Latimer Reservation has tents and cabins for lodging, water activities on beautiful Lake Joe Long, meals in the LaRoche Dining Hall, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, etc., and a modern showerhouse in tent city.  All of these facilities provide for a great place to come together for fun and fellowship. Facilities are available for a day, weekend or full week.  We provide full service dining, wireless internet, first aid for minor injuries and sickness. If there is a need for emergency services they are provided by Van Buren County Emergency Management. 

 

Camp Restrictions

Latimer Reservation prohibits personal firearms, ammunition, fireworks and all terrian vehicles.  Poisonous substances, gasoline and other flammables may not be stored at camp by groups.  NO PETS ALLOWED.  Smoking is not allowed in any buildings and is restricted to the designated smoking area on the property.  Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.  We ask that all guests honor these policies.
